No not really “drugs” but these GHD flat irons are addicting. I was at the hair salon the other day getting my hair cut and styled and my stylist used a GHD flat iron and it really did make a difference. She even curled my hair with this flat iron giving me beachy waves.
So why are these GHD flat irons so amazing? First of all they are ceramic. Always straighten your hair with a ceramic flat iron because ceramic plates straighten hair evenly and fast from the inside out but flat irons that are not ceramic heat the hair slowly and from the outside in causing moisture to penetrate your strands and cause damage.
So now that we know these GHD flat irons are ceramic, and we want ceramic, what else makes them so great?
Marie Claire named GHD flat irons as “stand-out brand when it comes to transforming waves and curls into poker-straight strands.” The GHD Eclipse Flat Iron is “the only hair straightener on the market to use tri-zone technology – six sensors in the iron plates that ensure a constant heat is maintained – to tackle any hair type quickly and easily.”
These flat irons are a HOT (lol) commodity right now and everyone is using them. The only down side is that they cost A LOT of money. The cheapest one I found was about $135.00 and they went up to about $250.00 That sure is a pretty penny. But, you get what you pay for!
However, I will share a secret with you that my stylist told me. Do you have a Marshall’s in your town or close by? Well they tend to get their hands on these flat irons from time to time and sell them at a discounted price! Every Marshall’s is different and gets different products for discount so check out every Marshall’s you can until you find a GHD flat iron!
How many times have you spent hours in the bathroom curling your hair only to have it fall flat as soon as you step out of your house? This literally just happened to me last night. I spent almost two hours perfecting my locks and by the time I got to where I was going my hair was straight again. I used to be able to hold a curl forever but now, not even for a minute. I’m thinking it is because I dye my hair now and I did not used to.
But I digress…
So how do we make our curls last? Here’s how:
Start with day old hair: Hair holds a curl better if its dirty. You don’t have to go out greasy, but washing your hair and then curling it right away will only result in failure.
Products, Products, Products: It’s not about piling on the products its about using the right ones. Too many will weigh your hair down and not using any at all wont help either. Heat taming spray is the most important thing you can use. It protects your hair. Damaged hair wont hold any curls so use products like TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray.
Now to actually hold the curl you need to add some texture. Try Catwalk Curl Collection Curlesque Curls Rock Amplifier. This product will enhance “the natural texture of your hair, this cream gives hold and control for defined curls and streamlined waves for a touchable, radiant finish.”
You don’t need a lot of hairspray to hold the curl either. You just need the right kind. Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play is my favorite but don’t hold it too close to your hair or it will get crunchy. Follow the directions! Hold it a few inches away and mist over the hair.
Its summer time and we all want tanned skin, but laying out in the sun all day does more harm than good. Not only are burns uncomfortable, they are dangerous. You can get skin cancer. Many people think of skin cancer as the easiest cancer to cure so they don’t worry about it. Just get that mole removed and you will be fine right? Wrong. While it is true that if you catch certain kinds of skin cancers early you may just need to get them removed but melanoma, a form of skin cancer, is the deadliest kind of all cancers. Why chance it?
Also, you can get skin cancer from tanning beds. Actually, skin cancer is on the rise because of tanning beds. Even if that does not scare you, just think of how wrinkly your skin is going to be from all of the UV damage. There are ways to get your glow on without damaging your skin and your health. Here’s how!
When I want an at home glow I use these products:
Body Image Body Benefits 2-in-1 Loofah Body Buff
Caress Tahitian Renewal Pomegranate Seeds and Coconut Milk Exfoliating Body Wash
Nivea Smooth Sensation Body Lotion
Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Light Bronze Sunless Tanning Mousse
The first step to getting a sunless glow at home takes place in the shower. First you’ll need to take your body loofah and pour some of your caress body wash on it and wash your skin in a circular motion. This gets all of the dead skin off and prepares your skin for proper absorption!
Next, while your skin is still a little damp apply the Nivea body lotion all over. Make sure you put extra on places like your knee caps and your elbows!
After your lotion has completely dried, use the Jergens instant tan mousse. I like the mousse better than the lotion because it spreads lighter and easier. Make sure to spread an even application and let it dry before putting anything on!
Contouring is awesome! It is a great way to slim your face instantly. I do it almost every day. But it is tricky, the key is to BLEND BLEND BLEND! If you don’t, you will end up looking like a clown. Contouring is super intimidating at first, but with the right tools, tips and practice you will be a pro in no time! Here is a quick guide to contouring.
First and foremost, there are two ways to contour. You can either contour with powder or with liquid. Powder gives a softer look while liquid is more defined. Liquid is also great if you have problems with dry skin. Powder is sometimes harder because it does not show up as well. Ultimately the choice is yours. I like powder because it looks more natural.
Whether you choose a powder or a liquid you need two colors. One needs to be two shades darker than your skin tone and the other a shade lighter. For liquid use a flat brush or a beauty sponge and for powder use an angled brush. Use a separate brush for the light shade and the dark shade.
Here is how to apply
Apply the darker shade to all the areas where the sun would hit your face: The inside of your cheeks, the sides of your nose, the bottom of your chin, and the top of your forehead.
Next, apply the lighter shade to the bridge of your nose, the top of your chin, under your eyes, and above your brow bone.
Then, blend away! Never blend in a circular motion. This will make your makeup look blotchy and uneven. Always blend in a straight line going back.
Make sure you are doing this in the correct lighting. Natural light is the best, so if you do your makeup in the morning opt for the sun! If you are doing it at night try to avoid “mood” lighting.

People are always looking for the next big thing, especially when it comes to skin care. We all want a fast way to get rid of acne, dark circles, and wrinkles. Oil cleansing is the latest trend.
So what is oil cleansing? It is when you use oil to clean your face instead of soap and water. Simple as that. As long as the oil you choose contains antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-inflammatory properties will dissolve the pore-clogging oil found on your face.
How do you oil cleanse? First you need some oil and a wash cloth. Make sure the wash cloth is damp and hot. Put the hot, damp washcloth on your face for 20 seconds. After these 20 seconds massage your oil into your skin and let it sit for 30 seconds. Then wipe the oil off with a hot, damp washcloth.
So what kind of oil do you use? That depends on your skin type. For normal to dry skin use aragon or shea oil so you can moisturize your skin without having it look greasy. For oily skin try tea tree or peppermint oil with castor oil. The tea tree oil and the peppermint oil act as astringents soaking up your skins oil.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just use the oil in your kitchen? Oh you can! Go ahead and grab that olive oil because it will work just as well. Just do not use canola oil or vegetable oil. They do not have the same properties as olive oil.
Oil cleansing works because it cleanses your skin without over drying it. When your skin is dry it tries to remedy the dryness by creating more oil, which only clogs your pores more causing you to break out. You also may no longer need a moisturizer, that is how well oil cleansing works!
