Festival Appropriate Clothing!

I recently went to Soundset, a huge hip hop music festival that happens in Minnesota. A lot of big names were there including Ludacris, Big Sean, and J.Cole. My biggest concern when going to this concert was not parking or ticket prices it was “What am I going to wear?” I have to wear something comfortable, but cute and I surely don’t want to ruin any shoes! So what does festival appropriate clothing look like?

Don’t wear heels. That should be a given. These outside music festivals happen in grass and the weather never works out how we want it to so it will probably rain, Rain means mud and you will get stuck in the mud and fall if you wear heels. Same goes for wedges. I also would not opt for sandals. You WILL get stepped on! Sneakers are a good option but I wore black combat boots like these Mossimo Supply Co. boots from Target.

Since it was raining, I knew these would be the best option. Basically don’t wear anything you don’t want ruined!

Clothing wise I opted for light jeans, a cute tank top and a flannel. It was rainy and a little cold, but I didn’t want to be covered up too much and have to move in a large crowd in a big jacket. The flannel kept me warm and I still looked nice!

Check out this flannel from Forever21!

I would also suggest not wearing a dress. The wind might pick it up and you’ll be mooning the whole crowed. The same goes for skirts. Wear something that will stay close to your body like shorts or jeans. Shorts if its hot, jeans if its cold.

If you don’t have to bring a purse, then don’t. It sucks but people are awful and you don’t want to get mugged.

Happy listening :)

The Red Dress Boutique

When you are in college and you live 45 minutes away from the nearest mall, you are not just always looking for a deal, but places to shop. This is where online shopping comes in handy, but the trouble is finding cute new places!

This is why I love the Red Dress Boutique. They are cute, affordable, and offer free shipping on orders of $50.00 or more.

Their style definitely country chic: they have boots and flannels down. For example look at this outfit idea featuring the Courageous Soul Vest

The vest is $52.00, the flannel, kindness is key tunic, is $46.00, and the boots, Nashville Awaits in Chestnut, are $52.o0 as well.

I found the Red Dress Boutique on Pinterest and I have loved it ever since. I do, however, have one complaint. That is, every time I see something REALLY CUTE it is ALWAYS sold out!! So good for them, bad for me. But the good news is they are aware that they are always sold out of their cutest items so they have the option of signing up to be notified when they get a restock in. All you have to do is click “get a restock email” and they send you a notification when it comes in.

I also really love how they pair their clothes on this site. A cute shirt is nothing if you don’t have anything to wear it with.

For example look how they pair the Twinkle and Moonlight tank in Ivory with the As We Know it skirt in Merlot.

You also get $10.00 off when you sign up for  an account! And they send you a $10.00 off birthday coupon as well. The Red Dress Boutique always has cute and stylish pieces available for every taste. Check them out, it is worth it!

Who Doesn’t Love a Good Bootie?

Fall fashion is here!
Fall fashion is here!

Ah Fall, a time for pumpkins, leaves and most importantly fashion! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and its not just because I am a basic white girl (okay that probably has a lot to do with it, but bear with me), but because fall weather means fall shoes!

My favorite kind of shoes to wear in the fall are definitely booties. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good riding boot, but there is something about a good pair of booties that really ties an outfit together. A good pair of booties  can take an outfit from casual to high fashion, instantly!

That being said, good, reliable yet cheap booties are hard to find. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a pair of booties just to have the heal break on me a few weeks later :(. Which brings the question to mind, “Should I keep buying cheap shoes if they’re just going to break on me?” The answer is no!

I know, I know, I am an advocate for buying cute, fashionable clothing at cheap prices, but think about it, is buying a pair of shoes for $25.00 that are going to break and need to be replaced in a matter of weeks worth it? No, it’s not. You’re going to end up spending more time and money replacing your shoes.

There are only a few times that I am going to suggest spending a good chunk of change on an item and now is that time. It’s called an investment, and investing in a few, moderately expensive staple items is going to take you a long way.

Anthropology Grammar Booties, in wine.

So now I present to you my favorite bootie this fall season, Anthropologies’ Grammar Booties! These wine colored booties kind of game me sticker shock when I saw them. They’re a whopping $158.00, which to the average girl may not sound like a lot, but I am in college and money does not come easy when you have no time to make it. But again, these booties are an investment! They are going to last me a long time, and I don’t see them going out of style any time soon. After all, I have to treat myself some times, right? (Yes, the answer is yes.)

blog-jcCan you believe that August is already here? Before you know it, school will be starting. It seems like it always takes so long for summer to arrive, and then before we know it, Labor Day is here and gone and school is already starting!

A lot of stores have had school supplies and clothes for a long time, but the huge sales are just starting out.  They are having a “Love Your School Sale” at JCPenney and I’m loving the things they have. Uniform pieces are on sale, as well as backpacks, select Arizona brand kid’s and junior’s clothing, dorm gear, and so much more.

Are you ready for the school year to start or are you wishing that there was plenty of summer left?

DSW is Another Awesome Shoe Store

blog-dswCan you tell that I’m in the mood lately to go shopping for shoes? I can’t help it. I have more free time in the summer, so I’ve been working on cleaning my closet out to get rid of the shoes, clothes, and purses that I don’t use enough and now have quite a bit of room to fill up now (which is the fun part).

DSW is another great shoe store to shop at. They have an awesome selection. Make sure you don’t get intimidated by the word “designer” in the name–there are tons of great deals and discounts. I can honestly say that I don’t think I have ever paid for full-price anything here. My advice to you all is to sign up for their e-mail list do you can be notified when there is a great sale going on!
